Description

Mushroom earthiness is quickly
detected on the nose followed by subtle oak and almost
cherry cola like sweetness. The palate experiences firm but
very well integrated tannins and notes of dark fruit, cedar and
hints of mushroom. Thank you to the Lauritzen family for six
great vintages; this wine will be sadly missed from the Tawse
Portfolio.

Winemaking Notes

Tawse has been producing single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the tightly-planted vines of the Lauritzen vineyard since 2008. As these vines age, the wines continue to increase in complexity. The warm 2012 vintage gives us a wine that is much bigger and much more fruit forward than traditionally produced from these vines. Aged 16 months in French oak, this structured wine is layered, balancing fruity, floral and earthy notes. Look for an expressive nose of cherry, cranberry, violet and a hint of spice. The palate is ripe and juicy with vibrant notes of cranberry and raspberry, lively acidity and a lingering finish.
